Tricks to keep your boobs from making an unwanted appearance.
After days spent in calorie deprivation and hours spent slaving away in front of the mirror with hot hair tools, the last thing you want to happen in your sexy Saturday night number is a wardrobe malfunction. Just because it’s girls night out doesn’t mean you should literally let your girls hang out!
Nobody wants to be that girl who is constantly rearranging her cleavage and tugging at her neckline. But even worse, nobody wants to be the girl who pulls a Janet Jackson at the Super Bowl at one of the nicest bars in town.
To help women keep their cleavage and their peace of mind too, we asked founder of The Breast Life and author of bOObs: A Guide to Your Girls, a humorous and informative book about women’s breasts, Elisabeth Dale for some tips on how to battle bulging boobs.
“It all depends on the style of dress, of course. But if you are falling out of your bra, it may be that you’re in bra-size denial. Most women wear too big in the band and too small in the cup, which can lead to spillage and other problems. Otherwise, here are six tips you mind find helpful,” Elisabeth says.
Invest in a well made and well-fitting strapless bra
Check out Itty Bitty Bra Co, Lula Lu or on the other end of the boob spectrum, Freya, Fantasie, Goddess, as examples. You can even buy a strapless bra made with pockets (for breast forms for mastectomy patients) but that can also be worn if you need to even out the size of your breasts.
Stay away from push-up bras
This may seem counter-intuitive if you want to create cleavage, but those bras tend to push breast tissue from the side and over the top. Try a demi-style or balconnet bra instead. See Simone Perele and Felina Harlow bras as examples here.
Avoid possible nip slips (either in dress or bra) by using double-stick tape.
Try a stick on bra
If you’re under a full C cup, try a backless stick-on bra to keep you covered. Try the NuBra or the Wing Bra, examples here.
Add a body shaper
Another great way to keep “your girls” under control is to wear a corset, torsolette, or bustier under your dress. Not all dress styles (think slinky silk or other sheer fabrics) work over these vintage-styled pieces, but it can be a fun alternative and provides support. It also slims you through the waist and there will be no worry about back fat! They aren’t for every one but are a great alternative to the hassle of some strapless bras.
