You don’t have to keep your best assets hidden ALL the time.
At work, at church, at a job interview, around children, or when meeting the parents, it’s best to keep your breasts caged up to avoid making the wrong impression. It’s hard to focus on what a woman has to say and it’s impossible to take her seriously if she’s walking around looking like child-bride and permanent hot mess Courtney Stodden.
But boobs are like vampires, just because they shouldn’t be free to roam during most daytime hours, doesn’t mean you have to keep them in the coffin when the sun goes down. One of the best parts about being a woman is showcasing our sexuality, and while most of the time less cleavage is more classy, sometimes more cleavage is plain old sexy.
I reached out to style expert and author of Stephany’s Style Secrets: 7 Steps to Live and Dress Your Best, Stephany Greene, to see when it’s okay to ditch the turtleneck for something that shows the girls without making us look like we moonlight at the Girls, Girls, Girls strip club.
In the Bedroom
There is nothing sexier and more alluring than gorgeous lingerie with a little mystery. This is the ideal time to show cleavage. But don’t reveal your gift until it’s time to unwrap the package.
With a Second Date Dress
Unfortunately for the past three decades, ladies have not been taught how to seduce men with the subtle sexiness most of them crave. Less is more in this case, but more can be more in other cases. Whenever you reveal cleavage, there’s a fine line between looking sexy, and looking slutty. If you’re on the second date, show cleavage, but leave enough to the imagination to leave them begging to see more on the 3rd date.
Mystery Cleavage: A button down blouse on the 3rd date
Let’s say you’re getting ready to have cocktails with a guy you like enough for a 3rd date. Nothing’s wrong with letting your cleavage reveal itself a little more – as if by accident. Keep your blouse buttoned up at work, but for your date, unbutton one button above your bra. That’s the perfect point to reveal what I call mystery cleavage.
Whenever the Garment Calls For It
There’s nothing un-sexier than low cut cleavage that’s pinned too far up. For example, Diane Von Furstenberg’s infamous wrap dresses are meant to be sexy. Be careful not to pin the cleavage too high. If you’re not daring enough to wear cleavage, then don’t buy anything that requires cleavage. If the shoe fits wear it!
When The Designer Says ‘Let The Girls loose!’
Some tank tops, dresses and blouses are designed to show cleavage on purpose. On rare occasions they’re meant to be worn with a camisole. Most of the time styles made with fabrics such as chiffon, organza or open lace are sheer which means they’re designed to show your boobage and your bra on purpose. I love a sexy demi-cut red lace bra peaking out from under a sheer black blouse. By the way, be mindful of displaying too much cleavage on a girls night out. Match cleavage with the occasion. More in the club, less at dinner, and none at high tea!
